Aztalan Solstice Celebration

The annual summer solstice celebration marking the longest day of the year will be held on the evening of Tuesday June 20 beginning at 7:00 PM with snacks and beverages at the park shelter. This will be followed by a program on Aztalan agriculture. The Mississippian people who lived at the town of Aztalan were farmers and summer was the farming season. Viewing of the summer solstice sunset (weather permitting) will take place at about 8:30 PM from the large southwest platform mound that probably supported a structure where the leader of the community lived.

The program is free but a Wisconsin State Park sticker (either day or annual)  is needed and can be purchased at the park. For more information contact Friends of Aztalan Executive Director Bob Birmingham at (608) 516-3421 or birmi@sbcglobal.net.
