In October of 2016, I visited four institutions in Wisconsin (MPM, UW-Milwaukee, WHS, and UW-Madison) to examine ceramic collections from Aztalan and Fred Edwards. I collected attribute data from approximately 350 Ramey Incised and Powell Plain specimens. As of winter 2016, I am still in the process of analyzing all the data, but my initial interpretation of the evidence is that the two sites experienced different intensities or types of Mississippian influence. In the future, I am planning on analyzing some Ramey collections from Cahokia for comparative purposes.
